Shane Cudahy and Virginia Morrow met while shooting the same local rock show almost four years ago. During a break, they began discussing lenses and camera techniques and soon realized that they were both working as wedding photographers for the same Charlotte studio.
Shane | As child model for a family friend and artist, Shane became accustomed to the process of creating photographic art at a young age. When she entered high school in the Washington, DC area, she found a well-funded arts program and began to realize where her interests lay.
Entering the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Shane began in graphic design, but soon shifted her focus to figurative photography, and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography.
Virginia | As the daughter of a professional photographer, Virginia’s passion for the photographic arts was instilled in her from childhood. She was taught to find and compose a frame as soon as her little fingers could imitate a camera lens. Her grandfather, who turned his bathroom into a darkroom and brother, an avid traveler and documentarian, also share the shutterbug.
While attending East Carolina University school of Arts, Virginia combined her interests in art history, anthropology, creative writing and photography to successfully design her own multi-disciplinary course of study. Virginia would earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cultural Preservation, but would find her life's work in photography.
It was at ECU that she discovered her interest in narrative photography. A natural love for capturing real life images lead her into the world of event photography. Sensitive to the many moments that make up a wedding, she enjoys capturing candid emotion and visually portraying the feelings that are experienced through the day. “You can't create what naturally occurs at a wedding, you have to have the eye, the instinct and the understanding to capture as it unfolds.”
